Avram Grant praised Chelsea for a professional job on reaching the FA Cup fourth round even though it took a Lee Camp own goal to earn the win.Claudio Pizarro's 20-yard shot in the 29th minute rebounded off Camp's right-hand upright and then hit his back before spinning over the line for the deciding goal.
The FA Cup holders struggled to overcome battling Championship side QPR but Grant was pleased with the performance of his side.
The Israeli said: "It was a typical cup game. We did our job, that is most important for me. We are in the next round.
"QPR played tactically very well. They were very clever and closed the space very well.
"It was a game like we expected. We held the ball most of the time. They tried to score at set-pieces. We scored one goal and created more chances but what is important is to be in the next round. In the cup it is important to do your job and we did that."
Grant also picked out third-choice goalkeeper Hilario for particular praise as he continues to stand in for the injured Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini.
Both goalkeepers could be available for the Carling Cup semi-final against Everton on Tuesday night but Grant added: "It is time to say a good word about Hilario.
"He is the third goalkeeper here but he is always doing his job. He is very professional and a great goalkeeper. We are lucky to have him as a third goalkeeper."
But Grant refused to be drawn on yet more transfer speculation involving the expected arrival of Bolton's Nicolas Anelka.
He was absent from the Bolton squad against Sheffield United and although Grant now loses Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Michael Essien and Mikel John Obi to the African Nations Cup, he refused be drawn on the continued rumours about new arrivals.
Grant said: "Because of all the injured players and everything else, we are thinking about everything.
"Basically we didn't want to change so much because we have a good squad but we have had some unexpected injuries and because of the African Nations Cup, we are thinking about things, but there is no news for the moment.
"There is a lot of speculation but I will not comment on it, only when something happens."
QPR coach Luigi de Canio was pleased with his side's endeavours but accepted that Chelsea's undoubted class was the difference.
De Canio said: "Chelsea demonstrated they are a great team. They behaved well. I think we did what we were expected to - we were quite tidy on the pitch. We tried to take advantage of every possible chance that we had.
"I am very satisfied with the performance. We worked well and it just shows we are on course to grow in the way we want.
"We put them under pressure and did our job well but unluckily we didn't win. It is never nice to lose but Chelsea are the great champions they are and they were good at creating chances."
