Hill left to rue sucker punch

Sun 06 Jan, 05:00 PM

Rochdale manager Keith Hill admitted Lincoln were "worthy winners" after his side lost 2-0 in their League Two match at Spotland.Late goals from Jamie Forrester and Lee Frecklington inflicted The Dale's first defeat since early November and Hill felt his side were not quite at the races.

He said: "We're disappointed, it was probably one game too many for us. It doesn't matter whether you are top, middle or bottom of the league, you've got to turn up with your work bag and unfortunately I don't think we were quite right across the field.

"For me, arguably it should have been a 0-0 scruffy match but again we've seen a decision from the officials which lead to Lincoln scoring their first goal from a free-kick.

"Afterwards they scored a superb second goal and I don't think we deserved anything out of the game but we were done by the sucker punch.

"We were nowhere near our best and Lincoln were worthy winners."
