Trotters running rule over Geromel

Sun 06 Jan, 02:00 PM

Premier League strugglers Bolton are understood to be keeping tabs on Vitoria Guimares' Brazilian defender Pedro Geromel. The highly-rated centre-back has reportedly been identified by Gary Megson's scouts as somebody who could strengthen the Trotters' squad.

Geromel is flattered to have attracted Bolton's attention and admits he would love to join a Premier League club.

However, Bolton may have to wait as he is not looking to leave Portugal until the summer.

"The Premier League is wonderful and the chance to play in England will be sensational," Geromel said in the News of the World.

"I am pleased I am being watched but I will only study the situation at the end of the season."

Megson is looking to do business while the transfer window is open and has been linked with a move for out-of-favour Portsmouth midfielder Matthew Taylor.

Speculation also suggests he is lining up an ambitious swoop for Real Madrid's Argentine forward Javier Saviola.
