Michael Johnson concedes he faces an uncertain future at Derby with Sheffield Wednesday having offered him a Pride Park exit.

FOOTBALL 2007 Paul Jewell - 0

The 34-year-old central defender has forced his way back into manager Paul Jewell's (pictured) plans of late and was on the bench when the two sides met in the FA Cup third round.

With Wednesday having proposed offering the veteran the security of an 18-month deal, the game could prove to be his last in Derby colours.

However, with Jewell yet to reveal if he will permit his departure, Johnson is unsure whether he will join Wednesday - where earlier in the season he enjoyed a loan spell - or stay with the top flight basement dwellers.

"I really don't know what is going to happen," he told the Sunday Mirror.

"I'm at Derby at the minute and I am enjoying my football here. I'm just going to keep playing and see what happens.

"The gaffer might say he wants me to stay. On the other hand, they might say an offer has come in from Wednesday and it has been accepted.

"If that were to happen, with an 18-month contract on the table, I would be a fool to turn it down. We'll just have to wait and see."
