Toyota star Timo Glock has spoken about the tough weeks following last year's F1 title-deciding Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos - a race in which he was harshly accused of having helped Lewis Hamilton to the crown.
Timo Glock has admitted that the aftermath of last year's Brazilian Grand Prix was 'very tough and difficult to understand', as he found himself accused in some quarters of having helped Lewis Hamilton to win the Formula 1 World Championship title.
Having slipped behind the Scuderia Toro Rosso of Sebastian Vettel to sixth place in the very closing laps of the race around Interlagos' Autodromo Carlos Pace, Hamilton was only saved when he came across Glock's Toyota in the penultimate corner, the German scrabbling around for grip after his team had elected to leave him out on dry tyres on an increasingly wet track surface in a bid to gain some ground.
That led to angry fans cynically suggesting that the 26-year-old had deliberately slowed to enable his friend to claim the laurels - even though the telemetry proved that similarly-shod team-mate Jarno Trulli's lap time over the final tour had been even slower than that of Glock.
"It was like driving on ice, the man from Lindenfels told Spanish radio station Onda Cero, "but still it was the right decision because it meant I finished one position higher than if I had changed tyres.
"I did my own race and had no interest in getting involved in the fight for the title. Afterwards when all the journalists were coming up to me I began to wonder if Lewis going past me meant he was world champion, but during the race I had no idea of the position I was in, let alone what Hamilton and Felipe Massa were doing.
"When I saw everyone's reaction it was very tough and difficult to understand. Even the next two weeks were really hard."
Glock stressed that the post-race conspiracy theories to which he was subjected were 'a little strange', but added that he accepted them as a price to be paid for competing in such a popular global sport
"I believe in Formula 1," the former GP2 Series Champion concluded, "so you have to live with these things."

I would have to say Glock is a liar........anyone that knows anything about F-1 knows that all teams have telemetry(sp)on the pit wall that shows all the other cars, and the secs behind. The drivers are constantly given data, and are aware at all times of cars coming up from behind, and who is ahead on track. Especially when in the points paying positions. That comment of his if true says lots of his team
MARION or whatever name you're using these days, why can't you give your brain and everyone else a rest. I wish you would leave, you make a mockery of this site and any other you probably visit.
Your views are worthless at best. You really do need expert help.
By the way, your feeble attempt at coming across as a non English person is bordering on pathetic.
Happy new year, may your tv viewing rights be revoked.
Mrs.L.Genon: What blue flags? Where the hell has that come from? Why on god's green earth would Glock be shown blue flags when EVERYONE on the planet who was watching the race KNEW catergorically that Timo was ahead of Lewis and Vettel? And if he had, why has Glock not said he was shown them? So now it's not Glock's fault at all then, and the Brazilian stewards tricked the Toyota driver into letting the Mclaren through? Is that what you are saying?

In light of mounting evidence that even the most diehard of conspiracy theorists are struggling to fight against, rather than admit to being wrong, it is commonly accepted that these people will simply ammend or create "facts" to fit their purposes, making the line between fact and fantasy that could once be considered blurry at best into a all engulfing chasm of ludicrous innuendo, more often than not redirecting a conspiracy to incorporate even more people in an attempt to offset the original falsifying of "evidence" by simply forcing people to disprove a whole new set of "evidence".

Touron, you forgot to change back again, quick before anyone else notices :-)
Not even the rains of Fuji, where James Hunt had angrily denounced his McLaren team's pit-stop strategy in 1976 before he could be convinced that he had indeed won the world championship against all odds at the Japanese Grand Prix, could compare with the confrontation in Brazil this year that finally crowned his fellow countryman Lewis Hamilton. His fight with Felipe Massa in the season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix was the greatest championship climax in Formula One's illustrious history.
The dice had seemed so firmly loaded in Hamilton's favour. Massa, the local hero in the Ferrari, had to win. But Hamilton, with a seven-point advantage, merely needed fifth place and McLaren's conservative strategy reflected that. But there were sown the seeds that blossomed into such a fabulous sporting moment in the last seconds of the last lap.
Rain before the start provided some window dressing, but soon Massa settled into a brilliant drive and crossed the finish line 13.2 seconds ahead of a duel between Fernando Alonso's Renault and his own team-mate Kimi Raikkonen, the outgoing champion. The fans saluted Massa's peerless drive, but the world's eyes were on Hamilton. In what seemed a subdued performance, he sat in a comfortable fourth place until a sudden storm in the closing stages blew all the cards off the table.
Massa, Alonso, Raikkonen, Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel all dived into the pits between laps 66 and 67 for intermediate tyres. Toyota's Timo Glock, running sixth, did not.
Massa, Alonso and Raikkonen all resumed without losing their positions, but Hamilton and Vettel fell behind Glock. That was still good enough for Hamilton. But then the BMW Sauber driver Robert Kubica unlapped himself on the 70th of the 71 laps and as he passed the McLaren, Hamilton lost momentum. That was all Vettel needed to pounce. Suddenly, the championship had swung in Massa's favour.
Panic broke out in the McLaren camp. It was 2007, when Hamilton was pipped for the championship by Raikkonen at Interlagos, all over again.
In agonised disbelief, Anthony, Linda and Nic Hamilton, and Lewis's high-profile girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, watched as the great dream veered perilously towards nightmare. When Massa crossed the line he was virtually world champion, for Hamilton was still only sixth with no hope of repassing Vettel. In the Ferrari pits, Massa's father, Luis Antonio, and brother, Eduardo started to celebrate. "I was told I was champion as I crossed the line," Massa said, "and then I was told that Hamilton was fifth after all, so it was a day of mixed emotion."
In the dying moments Lady Luck chose after all to smile upon Hamilton. As he chased Vettel out of the final corner, ready for the flat-out blast to the finish line, they came upon Glock. The German had lost 18sec in one lap and was struggling helplessly in the monsoon on his dry tyres. First, Vettel slammed past the Toyota, then Hamilton. The Briton was now fifth, clinching the championship literally yards before the end of the last race of the season. It was a denouement that defied belief, as the television cameras poignantly captured the elation at McLaren and the dawn of bitter realisation for Ferrari.
On the podium Massa took the greatest disappointment of his life with a dignity that epitomised the valour of great sporting endeavour. He wanted to weep; instead he behaved with the majesty of a king without a crown. As the Brazilian explained how he knew how to lose as well as how to win, and praised his rival's success, Hamilton smiled with genuine relief. It was not until the next day, he admitted, that it really sank in that he had, at 23, become the youngest world champion in history.
ginger_gitt , and why was the blue waving flags ommitted from the clip, sorry for two posts but invalid.
ginger_gitt could you please tell us all why a special clip was shown on YOU TUBE.
Why are half you posting comments here?!? this is about f1- not bombing people or elvis!!
Timo was dodgey as **** but you know this sport, nothing will be proven, nothing will be done.
Especially with only 9 teams for next year and all the stupid rule changes proposed.
sonnamabitch2000: Did you decide not to read the bit of the story about him still being faster than Trulli on the same tyres who wasn't involved? Or the part where he points out he finished ahead of where he would have been had he pitted? Condemn Kimi for lettig Massa through in China if you hate cheating that much, because that manouevure wasn't for the benefit of the team, it was for the benefit of another driver, and as you point out, Kimi was racing for points and should have tried harder to keep them!
At least he has an excuse, Kimi on the other hand...
What part of Glock pulling over to let both Vettel and Hamilton pass when he is fighting for position don't you people get? GLOCK WAS FIGHTING FOR A POINTS POSITION and he let both drivers by like he was being lapped and there were 100 blue flags waving! I hope Toyota realize how much their driver cost them and relegate him to driving soap box derby's!
Hey Marion - We metaphorically (look it up fool) cannot hear you as your mouth is always full of straw.
MGA: Is Elvis living in the same house as Lord Lucan still? I understand they got a timeshare agreement renting from Emperor Zarg from the planet Xenikoy. Mouronroute was the sales agent on the deal.

Mga - Uh Huh !
I can understand Glocks feeling's in this when he's being criticsed by people who wouldn't know how to start a GP car, let alone keep track on whats going on in the race, I don't supose his Team were that botherd that Hamilton passed him only that he manged to keep the car on the road to the end.
