David Wright's hamstring injury is not as bad as first feared but Ipswich have admitted the defender is likely to be sidelined for two weeks.

Wright limped off against Chesterfield in the FA Cup with a recurrence of the injury that kept him out of the festive fixtures against Birmingham and Derby.

But following a scan Ipswich physio Matt Byard told the club website there was no evidence of a tear that could have kept the defender out for a prolonged period.

"He does have some inflammation there and we will be cautious with him this week," Byard said.

"Hopefully it will settle down over the next few days and then we will take it from there but it will be one step at a time with his recovery.

"Hamstring injuries always provide a degree of caution and I would not want to put a definite date for David's return but looking at it at the moment, it could be a couple of weeks."
