The Lokomotiv Sofia midfielder tested positive for two metabolites of the banned anabolic steroid nandrolone after a UEFA Cup qualification match against Borac Cacak on August 14, 2008.

The 21-year-old, 20 at the time, was only on the bench for the tie but was handed the maximum possible penalty for the infringement.

He will be suspended until September 2010, UEFA said on its website.

The 6'4 midfielder joined Lokomotiv from second division side Spartak Plovdiv in 2007 but has failed to cement a first-team place.
