Anelka upbeat on title hopes

Wed 06 Feb, 10:00 AM

Striker Nicolas Anelka is adamant Chelsea can still mount a real Premier League title challenge this season.Anelka's first Premier League goal for the club was not enough to secure a club-record 10th straight win against Portsmouth on Saturday, but the title race is still wide open.

Although Chelsea lost ground as Arsenal won at Manchester City, Anelka remains confident that the Gunners can be caught.

"We can still be champions and we are trying to win the title, so of course we are disappointed we drew but we have a lot of games and try to win game after game," said Anelka.

"We don't care about what people say, we know we have to win games and try to do it. We will see in the end. Of course I am confident. I think it's a big club and we have a big squad with good players.

"Everything is possible, we still have a lot of games. Arsenal can drop points, United as well, and we try to win. The most important thing is to win. If I don't score I don't care, as long as we win."
