Luca Toni opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time before Andrea Pirlo made it 2-0 shortly after the restart.
Ricardo Quaresma reduced the deficit in the 77th minute before substitute Fabio Quagliarella restored the two-goal lead two minutes later.
At La Rosaleda, Joan Capdevila scored the winning goal for Spain with eight minutes to go although Thierry Henry was a constant threat and had a shot tipped round the post in the final minute.
Former Aston Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger opened the scoring and Chelsea forward Michael Ballack set up a second goal as Germany claimed a 3-0 win over Austria in Vienna.
The 25-year-old, who now plays for Stuttgart, scored in the 52nd minute after an even first half which saw the hosts hit the post through Martin Harnik.
Ballack then passed to Miroslav Klose who converted 11 minutes later before Mario Gomez's header 10 minutes from time made it a comfortable victory.
Celtic striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink scored the final goal as Holland cruised to a 3-0 win over Croatia in Split.
Johnny Heitinga opened the scoring with an early close-range goal before Klaas-Jan Huntelaar doubled the lead.
Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar parried a shot by Darijo Srna while Arsenal striker Eduardo put a shot over the bar.
Vennegoor of Hesselink came on as substitute in the 84th minute and five minutes later hit a low-footed shot into the net.
Meanwhile, Fulham forward Jari Litmanen put Finland ahead against Greece in Nicosia but the European champions hit back to secure a 2-1 victory.
In the same four-nation friendly tournament, Poland - who beat Finland 1-0 on Saturday - comfortably defeated Czech Republic 2-0.
Also on the island, Cyprus had to settle for a 1-1 draw with England's 2010 World Cup qualifying opponents Ukraine.
Hungary secured a 1-1 draw with Slovakia, West Brom's Zoltan Gera putting the hosts in front before Stanislav Sestak equalised 10 minutes later.
Elsewhere in Europe, Romania went down 1-0 in Israel, with the only goal coming from Omer Golan, whose last-minute strike against Russia in November appeared to open the door for England to qualify for Euro 2008.
The other two teams using the friendlies as part of their preparations for Euro 2008, Turkey and Sweden, saw their match end in a goaless draw.
Macedonia came from behind to record a credible 1-1 draw against Serbia.
A late goal by Maksim Romashchenko was enough for Belarus to take the Malta International Tournament as they triumphed 1-0 over the host nation.
Belarus won the mini-tournament on goal difference over Armenia, who dropped their first points of the competition after a 2-0 defeat to Iceland.
Slovenia lost 2-1 at home to Denmark.
Former Newcastle striker Jon Dahl Tomasson put the visitors in front before Milivoje Novakovic equalised but Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner secured victory for Denmark.
Elsewhere, Moldova beat Kazakhstan 1-0 and Latvia stormed to a 3-1 win in Georgia.
