Gannon still hopeful on Ellison move

Wed 06 Feb, 01:00 PM

Stockport boss Jim Gannon believes Chester winger Kevin Ellison is "happy enough" to move to Edgeley Park despite an on-going transfer dispute.A deal appeared to be reached and the 28-year-old winger was set to rejoin County on loan until the summer when a permanent switch could then be completed.

But the proposed move hit a snag after Chester revealed "objections raised by the player".

Gannon, however, is adamant a deal is still in the offing and told the Hatters' official website: "I've spoken to Kevin and, although he's got some contractual issues to sort out at Chester, he's happy enough to come."

Chester chairman Stephen Vaughan is hoping Ellison will remain at City but is eager for the issue to be resolved quickly.

He told the Blues' official website: "If Kevin wants to stay with us then that would be positive news, but if he decides to go to Edgeley Park, he would go with our best wishes. All we want is a decision and I don't think that's too much to ask."
