Keegan welcomes selection headache

Wed 06 Feb, 01:15 PM

Newcastle United manager Kevin Keegan is looking forward to welcoming back a number of players for the trip to Aston Villa at the weekend.Keegan has failed to claim victory in his four games since his return to Tyneside, but is eyeing success at Villa Park on Saturday.

Habib Beye and Abdoulaye Faye will be available following Senegal's exit from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Jose Enrique and Mark Viduka have both recovered calf injuries and are in contention to start against Martin O'Neill's side.

But Obafemi Martins is understood to be carrying a minor ankle problem as he returns from representing Nigeria in Ghana.

And Keegan, who has been forced to involve many of his younger players in recent fixtures, welcomes the decisions he faces over naming his starting XI.

"It will be nice to be honest to have a few more players to pick from," he told the club's official website.

"This is a small squad at the moment and that shows by the fact we've had to use a lot of our younger players from the bench in recent games.

"But now we've got a few back, certainly Habib and Abdoulaye will be available, and I've got a couple of decisions to make.

"That's always a good thing and it's what every club aims to have."
