West Brom boss Tony Mowbray has revealed that Albion midfielder James Morrison could be on the brink of breaking into the Scotland squad.Despite representing England at every level up to the Under-20s, Morrison qualifies to play for Scotland through his grandparents.

The 21-year-old was called up for the first time for August's friendly against South Africa by then manager Alex McLeish, but after linking up with the squad he was forced to withdraw due to injury and has not featured since.

Mowbray believes that new Scotland boss George Burley, who he played and coached under for almost six years at Ipswich, will give Morrison another chance.

"I spoke to George Burley about him and hopefully soon he will be featuring in some of his squads," said Mowbray. "James has not had a bad game for us this season.

"He is a young player who looks you right in the eye, and who possesses all the qualities on humility and modesty and who just wants to get better. The more players you have got like that, the more chance you have of being successful."
