Young lion Surman in 'dream' land

Southampton's Andrew Surman admits wearing the Three Lions of England at St Mary's ranks as one of the proudest moments of his career so far.Surman came on during the closing stages of the England Under-21's 3-0 win over the Republic of Ireland at St Mary's on Tuesday night.

"I was really pleased to get on. It is something I had dreamed about but never really thought would happen," he said.

"It was a fantastic moment. Stuart Pearce just told me to enjoy it, to get on the ball and keep us passing, and it was a great moment when I ran on.

"It's a huge honour to play for England, and to do it in my own stadium was one of the proudest moments of my career."
