Dimitar Berbatov has admitted constant rumours about a move to Manchester United affected his form.
The Bulgarian failed to score a Premier League goal for Spurs during January and looked noticeably off his game.
His sharpness returned on Saturday with a goal against United and he has now admitted the uncertainty had played on his mind.
Berbatov could yet move to Old Trafford in the summer, but for now he is relieved to be able to concentrate on his football.
"I'm just glad the transfer window is closed so I can at last put all my thoughts into doing my best for Tottenham," he said.
"All this constant rumour and speculation can mess with your mind and have an adverse effect on your game.
"You could say I should be used to it by now, but it doesn't get an easier. My head has not always been right.
"There is still a lot of work to be done if I am to reach the level I want to be at and achieve the goals I am aiming for.
"Now all the uncertainty is over - for the time being at least - perhaps I can concentrate on getting beck to my best."
