Despite suffering with a stomach complaint prior to kick-off, 32-year-old Cureton featured as a 73rd-minute substitute in the Canaries 1-0 win over Preston on Saturday.

He was taken to hospital for surgery when the problem persisted the following day.

"Jamie wasn't feeling well on Friday but he picked himself up sufficiently to take part on Saturday," Norwich manager Glenn Roeder told the club's official website.

"But on Sunday his stomach problems returned and he was admitted for surgery on Monday night. The operation was a complete success.

"We would like to wish Jamie a speedy recovery and hope that he doesn't miss more than the next two or three games."

Norwich have gone 11 league games unbeaten, a run of form instigated soon after Roeder joined the East Anglian club in November.
