The £20 million redevelopment of Burnley's Turf Moor ground has been hit by escalating costs following a change to the original plans.
The project drawn up last July detailed plans for half of the ground to be transformed over the next three years, creating a stadium with community and business facilities.
However, the club are keen to add an exhibition space in order to maximise the possibilities for investment. That will take the final total to over £30million.
Development director Paul Fletcher told the Burnley Citizen: "It is a more costly project than it was before.
"The exhibition space has been included as an addition to make the development more profitable.
"The building needs to be a community building which is not just owned by the football club.
"The new facilities can regenerate the area and help increase the value of people's houses.
"We are clearly not sitting back and waiting for the future to happen - we are creating one."
