Allen starts best in Championship League 5
Mark Allen won three out of four of his matches on the first day of Championship League Group 5 at Crondon Park.
Allen, who had lost in the second round of the German Masters last week, looked in good touch as he beat Peter Ebdon, Mark Selby and Jamie Cope, but lost to Mark King in his final clash of the day.
King and Cope sit behind Allen in the table having both won two and lost two.
The stand-out break was a 142 from Ricky Walden, although the Englishman found himself at the foot of the standings despite that, having beaten only Barry Hawkins after three matches.
Championship League 4 concludes on Tuesday, with all seven players completing their round-robin matches before the top four clash in play-offs, with the winner joining Judd Trump, Shaun Murphy, Neil Robertson and Mark Davis in the Winners Group in March with a chance of qualifying for the Premier League.
