Everton striker Victor Anichebe wants to rid himself of his "super sub" reputation and start playing and scoring more regularly.
The Nigeria international is the Toffees' top scorer this season with four goals after coming off the bench to equalise late on in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Wigan.
And although the vacancy arising from Louis Saha's deadline-day departure to Tottenham was filled by the arrival of £5.5million signing Nikica Jelavic from Rangers, Anichebe believes he can play a bigger part in first-team affairs having overcome injury problems.
"I tried to rubbish that super sub tag from the Europa League a few years back but it seems to be following me round," the 23-year-old told the Liverpool Echo.
"Hopefully I can start a few more games soon. The manager keeps putting me in and then taking me out and just trying to help me really.
"Obviously I have had the injuries and I hadn't trained for a few days before Wigan so it is important to be careful."

If he wasn`t so injury prone maybe Anichebe would have established himself as a senior striker already, I remember his debut when he was sub against Chelsea in the cup way back in 2006. That seems a long time ago now and he has yet to make 100 appearances for EFC, and i think that was only his 10th club goal on Saturday . He certainly has the physique to play like a `traditional ` centre forward in the mould of Kevin Davies at Bolton. I think he could play that role better than Velios, so that leaves Straquilasi and Jelavic to contend with. Although lacking in grace and elegance Straq puts a great work rate in every time unlike the departed Saha, and we have yet see what Jelovic brings to the team. Maybe the time has come for Anichebe to finally fulfill that potential from 2006 , but it`s largely down to Moyes playing him AND in the right position.
Much depends upon whether David Moyes wants to play with two strikers. I hope that our new striker will be given time to progress but there is no doubt that Anichibe has been our saviour in recent games and deserves his chance. Whatever happens there is no doubt that unless our midfield is creative and provides good ball then any striker would experience difficulty scoring. After watching Man U's play at Stamford Bridge one can realise how fast, skilful players can cause havoc. It will be interesting to see how Everton perform against Chelsea next weekend for I believe we will need to play with great pace and enthusiasm and unless we show some creativity it will be difficult to make inroads into their defence. I would like to see our new striker score for it would provide him with the confidence he needs.
