Barnsley's new signing Scott Golbourne could have played himself into manager Keith Hill's starting line-up after a goalscoring debut off the bench at the weekend.
Former Exeter defender Golbourne, 23, who can play anywhere down the left, signed a permanent deal last week and on his first appearance fired the Tykes' only goal in the 2-1 defeat at Watford.
When asked about the contribution of Golbourne, who made two appearances in the Barclays Premier League during his time at Reading, Hill said: "Very good. He deserves his opportunity.
"Maybe he'll have to play next week as a result of what he did when he came on as substitute. But he has played in the Premier League, I'm sure he has."
Hill admitted another new signing, midfielder Michael Tonge, on loan from Stoke, is currently short of match practice.
Hill added: "He's definitely missing match pace. He needs to play games, but two games in a week is very difficult for him when he's not really played for 18 months or so."

Keith, your judgement has been good so far, you will know when to give Tonge a full outing. What you will give Tonge over time will benefit Stoke in the long term.
