Holloway slams Bluebirds

Mon, 06 Feb 11:46:38 2012

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has branded Cardiff "slightly outrageous" in their pursuit of winger Matt Phillips.

The Bluebirds had a bid, reported to be worth £800,000, rejected for the Tangerines star during the January transfer window and Holloway stressed he would not be letting his prized asset go to a fellow npower Championship club.

He told the BBC: "I think they (Cardiff) were a little bit ambitious there, if he goes anywhere it will be one of the top five clubs in the country."

He added: "He won't have to wait for Cardiff to become that, so slightly ambitious, slightly outrageous.

"But never mind, it proves they are right doesn't it, what he's done today (Saturday).

"He's a good lad, he's a good player and shows what he can do. We've got to get everything right around for him to shine."

  3. I agree with you Lawrence although it pains me to say that because I am a Blackpool fan have been since the days of Armfield,Ball,Suddick and the rest, if the offer was'nt good enough then fine Blackpool have every right to reject it, I think Mr Holloway does believe in his own press sometimes and gets carried away with the moment, as my granddad would say to me" if youve nowt worth saying nice about someone, best not say anything at all", its a shame he said because it does take the shine off a very good away victory.

  4. Cardiff are pushing for an automatic promotion spot. Why the hell shouldn't they be entitled to make enquiries about a player at any club? The club in question might feel that Cardiff's bid doesn't meet their evaluation - in which case they simply reject the bid. There is no need for the arrogant, small-minded and belittling response that Holloway has given here. the man is a pompous, little p rick.
