Lions can survive - Trotter

Liam Trotter saw enough from Saturday's 2-1 derby defeat at West Ham to suggest Millwall will avoid relegation this season.

Midfielder Trotter cancelled out Carlton Cole's opener only for central defender Winston Reid to crash in a superb strike to win it for the 10-man Hammers.

However, the Lions can count themselves unfortunate after Julien Faubert appeared to foul goalkeeper David Forde in the build-up to the winning goal.

And Trotter said: "That's the way it goes when you're at the bottom. We are at the bottom and they are top - and sometimes decisions like that go against you and it falls their way.

"Even so, the strike was incredible. With that, nine times out of 10 - and no disrespect to him - that goes into row Z. But we can't reflect on that, we didn't do enough.

"But there's lots to be positive about. At 11 against 11 we were on top. West Ham only really looked to hit it to Cole and make it stick. We played the better football and I am confident we can kick on and push up the league soon."
