Rangers decide against Cisse appeal

Mon, 06 Feb 13:08:37 2012

Djibril Cisse is set to serve a three-match ban after Queens Park Rangers confirmed there would be no appeal against the striker's red card in Saturday's Barclays Premier League game.

Cisse saw red on his home debut against Wolves after getting involved with opposition defender Roger Johnson.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Djibril Cisse will miss the R's forthcoming three Barclays Premier League fixtures, owing to the red card he received against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

"Cisse will now be banned for the R's away trip to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, as well as our home fixtures against Fulham and Everton."

French forward Cisse, 30, joined QPR from Lazio on transfer deadline day from Lazio, the one-time Liverpool and Sunderland striker having scored on his debut at Aston Villa last week.

  1. I agree Stewart I liked your posts on Saturday we really played well in desperation mode when we fell behind because before that we did nothing only retreated and I think Hughes dont know the squad yet.Thank you for helping me out by posting that Helguson and Buzsaky were hurt because I was beating my head off the computer desk after seeing Derry on and Smith and Mackie sitting.Barton has regressed at the moment and is invisible so hopefully Taarabt can keep carry his good play on to the next game .The results went our way on Saturday aside from our loss but still that 5 point gap is a big concern

  2. I thought we played well against wolves considering we where down to 10 men. As for the cisse sending off maybe barton should of give him a run down before the match started. Yellow to me but again ifyou start grabing players by throat u r gonna get sent!. Should appeal they may reduce to 1 match. Blackburn will be beaten just had a little bad luck at the moment aswell.

  3. I dont understand this decision at all.If everybody is up in arms about the sending off why not appeal we have nothing to lose by doing it.We need goals badly and his pace and experience is vital and we have to pull at least 6 or 7 points from these games after butchering the last 2 .Where is the new found confidence gone after the Wigan game where we were superb and won easily. We didnt play like that since and need to get back there fast
