Stoke appeal Huth red

Mon, 06 Feb 14:18:10 2012

Stoke have confirmed they have lodged an appeal to the Football Association against Robert Huth's red card in Saturday's Barclays Premier League match against Sunderland.

The German defender received a straight red card from referee Martin Atkinson, following a tackle on Black Cats midfielder David Meyler just before half-time.

Stoke boss Tony Pulis had indicated afterwards he was likely to appeal against the sending off and suggested play-acting by Meyler contributed to the dismissal.

Sunderland won the match 1-0 with a goal on the hour mark from winger James McClean.

If Huth was pulling out of a bad tackle, what was he doing going into in the first place?????

This has got to be a joke Stoke City appealling against a foul tackle ??? The whole team is built around fouling the keeper at every corner and long throw and as for Meyler playacting ,,well i didnt see any play acting all i saw was a guy thats had two serious injuries trying to avoid getting clattered by a reckless tackle , i suppose he could have let Huth hit him full tilt and had his leg broken !!! Love the passion of Stoke fans but Pullis is a complete idiot if he didnt think that was reckless

    Spot on Dennis and Paula
Stoke fans are always defending the indefensible.
I suppose it's their team so they have to.
Every time I see them they shock me with the tactics when they start to lose.
Hope he gets an extra match it was out of control and Stoke are wrong to appeal.

  4. Meyler should be retrospectively banned for diving, was disgusting what he did to get Huth sent off, looked like a sniper had taken his leg off.
Minimal contact was made, Huth tried to pull out but the conditions made him slide.
And Dennis, getting out of the way would be fine, but rolling around afterwards wasn't needed.

the slide was out of control (look at the track left on the pitch by Huth, no way he could stop), & Meyler had to take avoiding action or risk being crippled.

there was contact. proved by the same picture Pulis sent in to MOTD.

Pulis made a complete fool of himself dancing about on the touchline waving his arms like a demented penguin.

Stoke are losing games. Pulis is feeling the pressure and looking to lay the blame away from himself.

Meyler has just returned from two career threatening knee injuries. What does Pulis expect him to do? stand there and be snapped by a 15 stone German juggernaut steaming at him?

Pulis is an idiot who is losing the plot and is using this to try to save his stupid hide. He`s simply trying to take the spotlight away from his own failings.
