Clarets boss keen on promotion push

Thu 06 Mar, 01:30 PM

Burnley boss Owen Coyle has geared up for Saturday's trip to Stoke by urging his side to keep their Championship promotion hopes alive. The Clarets' play-off hopes were dealt a blow in midweek as they slipped to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Hull.

However, Coyle has quickly shifted his focus onto the trip to the Potteries as his men seek to reaffirm their promotion pedigree.

"You don't want to be running into the last four or five games with them being meaningless," he said. "We want to make sure we are really playing for something at the top end of this league.

"We are trying to win each and every game, and although that might not be possible at this level, it doesn't stop us from striving to do that."
