Collins looking to push on after win

Thu 06 Mar, 05:15 PM

Hartlepool's Sam Collins has set his sights on avoiding relegation after clinching a vital three points with a 1-0 win at Oldham on Tuesday. With Pools welcoming both Gillingham and Huddersfield to Victoria Park in the next four days, Collins is keen to build on their Boundary Park victory.

He told the Sunderland Echo: "First and foremost is making sure we are safe and then we will take it from there. We want to get to 50 or 52 points as quickly as possible and maybe we can enjoy the rest of the season then a little bit.

"But we want to keep winning football matches. Oldham were a team that were pushing for the play-offs and if we can get these points on the board as soon as possible, let's see what happens.

"When you look at some of the games that we have got, we can keep picking up points."
