Frail rails at inconsistent tag

Hearts caretaker boss Stephen Frail is growing tired of claims his side are too unpredictable in the Scottish Premier League this season. The Edinburgh side began the season poorly but found form in the autumn before enduring a disappointing December.

Their performances have picked up over the past two months, and Hearts have won five of their last seven matches in the SPL, with the only SPL defeats during that run coming against Celtic and Rangers.

They have shot up four places from 11th to seventh, and are now on the brink of breaking into the top six ahead of the split.

Frail said on Hearts' official website: "We keep getting this thrown in our face, 'What Hearts team is going to turn up today?', and it is getting a wee bit tiresome now."

Rangers were 4-0 winners at Tynecastle last week, but Hearts recovered to beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 3-0 three days later.

Frail claims his players were shot down too quickly by critics after losing to the SPL leaders, and believes their record in 2008 supports his view that Hearts are a vastly-improved side.

"It gets a bit boring," he said. "It gave me a lift on Saturday morning when I read one Inverness player ask, 'Which Hearts team will turn up?'.

"I can tell him it was the team that beat them 3-0."
