Craig Beattie is set for a spell on the sidelines following the hamstring injury he suffered on his Preston debut against Leicester.Beattie joined the Championship strugglers on loan until the end of the season on Tuesday after finding first-team opportunities at West Brom limited.

He was thrust straight into the starting line-up at the Walkers Stadium later that day, but lasted just 38 minutes after he pulled up with a hamstring strain.

In an update on his condition on Preston's official website, North End manager Alan Irvine said: "At the moment we have to wait for the bleeding to settle down.

"We can't scan it until it has done that, but the scan is scheduled for Monday. However, it (his absence) is looking like being weeks rather than days."
