Latics sweating on midfield duo

Thu 06 Mar, 05:30 PM

Wigan are hopeful midfielders Ryan Taylor and Kevin Kilbane will be fit to face Premier League leaders Arsenal on Sunday.Taylor has been out for a month with a rib injury while a bruised foot kept Republic of Ireland international Kilbane out of last weekend's goalless draw at Manchester City.

The pair both returned to training this week and could both be competing for the same slot on the left wing as the Gunners visit the JJB Stadium.

Assistant manager Eric Black told the Wigan Evening Post: "Ryan was able to train with the squad for a couple of days before playing the reserve game (on Tuesday), so he will be back in contention.

"Kevin seems a lot better. He trained on Tuesday and he should be okay for the weekend."
