McMahon urges Shrews unity

Thu 06 Mar, 07:45 PM

Shrewsbury caretaker boss John McMahon insists his side must "stick together" as they bid to bring an end to their worrying form. The Shrews have taken just six points from their last 12 matches, with last weekend's 4-1 defeat to Barnet leading to Gary Peters leaving the club by mutual consent.

McMahon believes the team must now make a "fresh start" and put an end to their alarming slide down the table.

"It's a fresh start for everyone although the spectators are aware of the circumstances going into the game," he told the club's official website.

"The lads are disappointed with themselves and the season so far and we all take responsibility for that. Hopefully we can start changing our fortunes and get the results the club and the spectators deserve.

He added: "We all need to stick together and show everyone that was a one off and turn things around very quickly. It's a case of getting the disappointment out of the system. We all felt disappointed when Gary left, in terms of letting him, the chairman, the spectators and ourselves down."
