Laurent Robert looks unlikely to earn a new deal at rockbottom Derby after disappointing Rams boss Paul Jewell since moving to Pride Park. The former Newcastle winger arrived on a short-term contract in January but has made just three first-team appearances and has not featured in the squad at all for over a month.
With Derby already resigned to the drop, it is looking increasingly unlikely that the club will be prepared to take a chance on an oft-temperamental player who is likely to be on a substantial salary.
While his chances of securing a contract have not been officially written off by Jewell, the coach does admit that the player has a lot of work to do if he is force his way back into his plans before the end of the season.
"He hasn't done well enough in training to force his way back in," he said.
