Fairclough pleased with fightback

Sun 06 Apr, 03:45 PM

Barnet manager Paul Fairclough was pleased with the way his side fought back from two goals down to claim a share of the spoils at Mansfield.Fairclough said: "You have to respond to a situation and, to be fair, the game should have been out of sight by that time as Mansfield could have gone 3-0 up.

"But it was always my intention to unleash Anthony Thomas and Adam Birchall at some stage.

"I had to do something to affect the game and all three substitutes did that when they went on.

"We got a draw and I will take that after the way we played in the first half and the start of the second. But I think we could have gone on to win it if there had been more time on the clock.

"We finished the game very strongly and the players responded magnificently."
