Danny Cipriani's first-half goal kicking gave Wasps a workmanlike Guinness Premiership victory against Newcastle at Adams Park.

Danny Cipriani - Wasps - 0

The home side dominated the first half, with Cipriani kicking penalties on nine, 22 and 40 minutes as well as a huge drop-goal from inside his own half on 27 minutes.

Newcastle came back hard at their hosts in the second half, putting Wasps under pressure for the first time and forcing the concession of simple penalties for Tom May to convert on 59 and 65 minutes.

As the game entered its final minutes the Falcons continued to push hard, and they kicked for the corners with a pair of late penalties to try to force the try from an attacking line-out.

The Falcons looked to have made the crucial break on 76 minutes with good back play, but Tom May knocked-on after receiving the final pass which would have released him to run in and score.

And Wasps held on grimly in the last few minutes to close out the victory that leaves the two sides locked together on 43 points in the Guinness Premiership.
