Britain's Andy Murray beat Serb Novak Djokovic 6-2 7-5 in the South Florida heat to win the Miami Masters.
After dominating the first set, Murray came back from 5-2 down in the second, the decisive moment coming when he broke Djokovic in the ninth game on a challenged call after the Serb had squandered two set points.
On break point, Djokovic's shot was called out and although the Serb challenged the decision it was upheld, allowing Murrayto draw level by holding serve in the next game.
The Scot then came back from 30-0 on Djokovic's serve to break again, having a bit of luck when his return clipped the top of the net and an off-balance Djokovic hit wide.
Murray, ranked fourth in the world, was left to serve out the match and clinch his third Masters series win and his 11th title on the ATP Tour.
The match took place in oven-like heat at Key Biscayne and Murray said it had been hard work against the third seed.
"The conditions were tough, running around out there it was tricky. He started to come to the net a bit more and I lost my timing a bit but I was able to get it back," Murray said during the prize ceremony.
Djokovic conceded he had been well below his best.
"I was, I think, the biggest enemy to myself. I was struggling again and trying to adjust to the heat," he said.
"But I was really impatient at the start. I made a huge number of unforced errors and he was just playing very solid and waiting for his chances and serving quite well, moving all over the court quite well," added the Serb.
"I managed to come back in the second set but I didn't play smart at 5-3. I had two set pointsI had to use those opportunities then who knows what could have happened in the third set."
Murray has now beaten Djokovic in each of their last three meetings after losing their initial four match-ups.

Andy Murray is the real deal .The fittest player on tour, and even Federer loves his all round game ,having lost to him in 6 of the 8 games played, still has ----- to tell every one who listens, that Andy is the real threat in tennis today.. and please keep out the racial slurs against Scotland,,no need for this ,we are supposed to be talking about tennis, and Murray;s great WIN..
Rhymes, good call my friend,Novak did a great job up at the net, technique looked good, showed good hands and a willingness to get there.Agreed on the groundies also, could be the new stick,he is def not hitting with as much depth. His apparent lack of conditioning these days is more of a concern, seems like a nice guy,so hope he sorts himself out. Hats off to Andy too ,cant do any better than winning the thing.
everyone wants to be in that nice company olga, aj, igor, rhymes450 … and many others
unfortunately we can’t all
someone of us just exercise our tragical “English” here ;)

just as part of exercise of course;))
have to say, your comments are unique, best wishes
Yes ma'am, my lips are sealed, sorry. poison_the_well69, I gather from a source at Roland Garros that they were voting on giving Borg a wild card. Would that put him on the circuit?
clispyduck: Have you even seen the match?
I was really surprised that Djokovic managed to get into the final.
He was too tired after match with Tsonga, and he can be thankful for Federer's horrible match.
He was playing like some beginner.
And final match was boring like never.
I mean, where's the fun, 100% Murray against 40% Djokovic.
I have much more enjoyed watching Del Potro - Nadal, and Roddick - Federer, than Murray - Djokovic.
When Djokovic regain his fitness Murray won't stand a chance.
Full fit Djokovic is only danger for Nadal's first place, no one else.
Vamos Rafa!
Cheers!!
Sanchez. I appriciate all u said. But u are f...n sarcastic!!! And i am damn sensitive. So stop it!! )))))))))))
no one would dare punish you Olga, well at least not in the way you think..hahahaha. trust me when his daughter jelena jancovic is still in a tournament, he loses all sense of proportionality then, otherwise you are right, he is much fun to debate with.
Guys, may be you want me to go to sleep now, but then again - i wanna support Igor K. He is one of the rare normal, devoted, argumentable fan of Novak. All the rest either speak serbian or abuse all the others - speaking far not serbian.... As far as i see and read he is a true fan of his favourite athlete, - i wish him to stay the same. Cuz otherwise u would not have such a discussions; also i think he is very brave to write all this stuff on english eurosport site. Please, be polite and honorable to (at least) him... Now i am ready to be punished for what i have just said....thank u.
clispyduck yo man you talk a load of sense but, what's with the name.....? Its defo not pc don't you agree? just as well we don't have many of those on here, i think they will find it offensive for sure.
your shirt is way to big for me sorry!!!lol
ajpbolton: yes, I know you were. I was actually referring to my own facetious comments earlier, but if the shirt fits....
i was being serious thanks.
Seriously now, both Andy and Novak were impressive leading up to the final. Djokovic's comeback against Roger was superb after a sublime first set by the Swiss, and Murray demonstrated an insulting superiority over all his rivals, even Delpotro in spite of losing his way a bit in the second set. His deliberate, intelligent and tenacious tennis will have won him a lot of new fans these days. Those fantastic reverse cross-court passing shots dropping at the opponent's feet are worthy of Nadal at his best, and the reverse, both offensive and defensive, must be about the best on the circuit today.I agree with those who think that the great rivalry of the coming years could well be Murray's assault on Nadal's dominance. As for Djokovic, I'm afraid he's not the danger he was a year ago, and will have to improve his fitness and his attitude if he is not to start slipping down the rankings as new, aggressive players like Delpotro continue to arrive on the scene.
djokovic is a quitter, semi final of wimbeldon 2007 he quit, quarter final of ausie open 2009, defending champion he quit, i could go on. he needs to buck hid ideas up, and ask himself how he wants to go down in history beacause apart from his own nation, the rest of us think he is a laughing stock.
