Frank Lampard leads our team of the week after his barnstorming display against Alan Shearer's Newcastle, who unsurprisingly provide three of our flops XI.
HOW IT WORKS
We tot up the marks out of 10 awarded in five national newspapers - The Sun, Daily Mirror, the Mail, The Times and the Guardian - to create a total out of 50. The top player in each position will be rewarded with a spot in the team of the week, while the worst scorers will be named and shamed in our Flops XI.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
Lampard was on the scoresheet and inspired a 2-0 win over Toon so the Chelsea man lines up in a rather familiar midfield alongside England team-mates Steven Gerrard and Gareth Barry.
Gerrard was instrumental in Liverpool's last gasp victory at Fulham while Barry was on top form against Manchester United, despite Aston Villa's defeat. Everton's Marouane Fellaini completes the quartet for his eye-catching performance against Wigan.
Up front, Emmanuel Adebayor's brace against Manchester City sees the Arsenal striker win a place in our elite XI, with Jo alongside him after his own two-goal exploits for Everton.
Another goalscorer over the weekend, West Ham's James Tomkins, forms a central defensive partnership with Blackburn's Chris Samba while Bacary Sagna and Ashley Cole line up on either flank. David James provides the cover in between the sticks after keeping a clean sheet for Portsmouth against Hull City.

FLOPS OF THE WEEK
Manchester United may well have held off the advances of Liverpool over the weekend, but the champions still managed to provide two of the flops XI after Gary Neville's age got the better of him and Nani put in an abysmal showing against Villa.
Newcastle provide a pair of plonkers at the back - Fabricio Coloccini and Jose Enrique - after their shambolic attempts at defending during the defeat to Chelsea in Shearer's first game in charge. Middlesbrough's Robert Huth completes the back line.
Another Middlesbrough player, Jeremie Aliadiere, gets the nod in midfield alongside a third Toon flop Kevin Nolan while Borja Valero, another who could well find himself plying his trade in the Championship next season, completes the miserable quartet.
And finally, Craig Bellamy and Bobby Zamora form a rather impotent partnership - at least going off their weekend form - in attack.
Flops of the Week (4-4-2)
GK: Chris Kirkland (Wigan) - 24
RB: Gary Neville (Manchester United) - 24
CB: Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle) - 18

FW: Bobby Zamora (Fulham) - 24
TEAM OF THE SEASON (minimum 16 starts)
There has not been too much movement in the team of the season following the weekend's action, with just Shaun Wright-Phillips coming into the side at the expense of Antonio Valencia. Unsurprisingly, Gerrard remains top dog.
GK: Shay Given (Manchester City) - 34.13 average
RB: Glen Johnson (Portsmouth) - 32.25
CB: Michael Turner (Hull) - 33.53
CB: Martin Laursen (Aston Villa) - 33.84
LB: Patrice Evra (Manchester United) - 31.73
RM: Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City) - 33.42
CM: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) - 35.46
CM: Frank Lampard (Chelsea) - 34.84
LM: Ashley Young (Aston Villa) - 33.05
FW: Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) - 34.21
FW: Craig Bellamy (Manchester City) - 32.70
FLOPS OF THE SEASON (minimum 16 starts)
It's one in, one out for West Brom, as Gianni Zuiverloon replaces Spurs right-back Pascal Chimbonda - who no longer has the required number of starts - and Abdoulaye Meite is usurped by Aston Villa's Carlos Cuellar. Blackburn's Keith Andrews also creeps into the flops XI, as does Afonso Alves of Middlesbrough. Zoltan Gera and Darren Bent are the lucky escapees.
GK: Scott Carson (West Brom) - 29.93
RB: Gianni Zuiverloon (West Brom) - 29.04
CB: Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle United) - 27.87
CB: Carlos Cuellar (Aston Villa) - 28.47)

FW: Roman Pavlyuchenko (Tottenham Hotspur) - 27.28
FW: Afonso Alves (Middlesbrough) 28.14

Team of the season... Given, Johnson, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Alonso, Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney, Torres, Drogba!!! Similar system to Barca, Drogba up front with Torres running of him, Rooney and Gerrard just behind as both can defend and attack when needed and Alonso and Lampard just bossing the middle. Hard to leave out players like Fabregas, Adebayor and Essien who haven't had much game time, also Ronaldo, Cahill, Ireland, who have played well but not everyone can make it and they'd be some bench!!!
why is roman pavlyuchenko on the list . he was tottenhams hero in start at least
