Preston full-back Callum Davidson has signed a new three-year deal at Deepdale to keep him at the club until 2011.Davidson, who still had a year to run on his existing deal, has played an integral part in the Lilywhites' climb away from the relegation zone during the second half of the season and has been rewarded with a new contract by boss Alan Irvine.

"It was nice that the manager thought highly enough of me this season to offer me a new deal," said Davidson.

"I sat with the chairman for a couple of minutes and things were sorted and I am absolutely delighted.

"There was no pressure, the one thing since I have been at Preston is that if you do well they will look after you.

"Obviously we can't compete with the bigger clubs but it is one of the things that makes you want to stay, when you have 10 or 12 months left on your contract they come and see you and try and sort something out and it gives you that security, it also makes you feel wanted and that's a big part of being here."
