Liam Lawrence has capped a fine promotion-winning season for Stoke City by landing the TEAMtalk Your Say Player of the Season award. The Potters ended a 23-year exile from the top flight on Sunday when a 0-0 home draw against Leicester was enough to clinch a place in next season's Premier League.
Little surprise, then, that there were a number of contenders to choose from for TEAMtalk's Stoke City Your Say Player of the Season.
Rory Delap, Mama Sidibe, Carl Dickinson, Ricardo Fuller, Ryan Shawcross, Richard Cresswell and even cheekily Tony Pulis received nominations but the runaway winner with over 90% of the votes was the outstanding Lawrence.
He ended the season with the most assists in the Championship and scored more league goals than any other midfielder with 15 - making him the Potters' joint top scorer with Fuller.
His deliveries from the right wing have been nothing short of sensational all term, while he has proved himself to be one of the league's most deadly players from deadball situations.
Stoke are renowned for being a side that scores a lot of goals from free-kicks and corners and it is little surprise given the quality Lawrence consistently provides from those situations.
He has also been the scorer of some sensational goals - who could forget his his long-range strikes against QPR and Ipswich - and has held his nerve superbly on four occasions from the penalty spot, including a 95th-minute equaliser in a 3-3 draw at Barnsley which clinched his hat-trick.
Pulis will tell you that it is not just Lawrence's on-the-ball quality that has impressed him this season, but also his outstanding workrate. The Welshman will not stand for anything less than 90-minute commitment and Lawrence has not let his boss down on a single occasion this season.
Wingers can often drift in and out of games but Lawrence has constantly sought to get involved in the action and made as many tackles and done as much tracking back as any midfielder in the league.
He won every single Player of the Season award going and we are delighted to have made it a clean sweep for the 26-year-old.
Liam Lawrence, TEAMtalk salutes you. He is shown accepting his award from Stoke City editor Mark Holmes (centre) and Your Say poster (and Homzy's dad) Pie1.
