Southend midfielder Alan McCormack has urged his team-mates to take full advantage of demoralised League One play-off opponents Doncaster.Rovers were unable to capitalise on Carlisle's 1-1 draw with Bournemouth and had to settle for a top-six finish as Nottingham Forest beat Yeovil 3-2 to seal their place in the Championship next term.
And McCormack believes the Shrimpers will benefit from Rovers' misfortune by inflicting a first-leg defeat on their opponents at Roots Hall on Friday.
"Doncaster are coming into the play-offs with their heads down and we want to play on that if we can," McCormack told The Echo.
"They lost at the weekend which meant they slipped out of the top two and if we can beat them Friday it means we will be going back to their ground with them having suffered back-to-back defeats.
"That could affect them and that's obviously what we want to happen."
