Ternent begins Terriers clearout

Tue 06 May, 02:00 PM

Danny Schofield, Chris Brandon and Frank Sinclair are among the nine players who have been released by new Huddersfield manager Stan Ternent.Ternent, recently installed as Andy Ritchie's replacement, has offered new deals to Joe Skarz, James Berrett and Matt Glennon.

Schofield announced he would be leaving the club after 10 years' service in February, but Brandon and Sinclair can count themselves unlucky not to have their contracts renewed.

Midfielder Brandon, who joined Town from Chesterfield in 2004, had fought his way back into the starting line-up since the turn of the year.

Former Chelsea and Leicester defender Sinclair was offered a one-year deal after a successful loan spell at the end of last season, but has not featured since the end of March due to a calf injury.

Youngsters Matthew Young, Danny Racchi, Aaron Hardy, Lucas Akins, Mitchell Bailey and Luke Malcher have all been released after failing to cement a place in the first-team squad.
