Lolesi Facing Ban

Tue 06 May, 02:09 PM

Huddersfield centre Jamal Lolesi is facing a threat to his ever-present record after being charged by the Rugby Football League with verbally abusing match officials.

The former New Zealand international is twice alleged to have used foul and abusive language, contrary to the true spirit of the game, during the Giants' 36-34 defeat by Warrington in the opening match of the Millennium Magic event in Cardiff.

He will appear before the League's disciplinary panel in Leeds on Wednesday on a grade C charge, which carries a suspension of up to four matches.

Lolesi, who joined Huddersfield from Wests Tigers 18 months ago, has appeared in all of their 14 matches so far this season.

Meanwhile, any doubt over Wigan scrum-half Thomas Leuluai's availability for Friday's centenary Test in Sydney was removed when the League's match review panel decided not to cite him for a trip during his side's 57-16 defeat by St Helens on Sunday.

Leuluai was lectured by referee Phil Bentham for kicking out at Saints winger Ade Gardner during the act of scoring and he will be sent a warning letter by the League.

The former London Broncos half-back flew to Sydney on Monday to link up with his New Zealand team-mates ahead of the Test with Australia and was named in the starting line-up alongside Leeds full-back Brent Webb.
