Darren Pattinson has again been left out of the Nottinghamshire side as they try to complete an LV County Championship double over Kent in Division One.
The fast bowler took eight wickets on debut as Notts thrashed Kent at Canterbury on the opening day and took three for 39 against Northamptonshire Steelbacks in the Friends Provident Trophy at the weekend.
But Pattinson was left out of the drawn match with Yorkshire and again cannot force a way past Charlie Shreck, who forms a strong fast bowling unit with Ryan Sidebottom and Stuart Broad also available before the prospect of international duty next week.
The only change is an enforced one, as Graeme Swann plays for England Lions against New Zealand at the Rose Bowl from Thursday.
Swann's place is taken by Bilal Shafayat, who has played only in two Friends Provident Trophy matches this season.
It means Samit Patel must shoulder the spin bowling responsibility with his occasional slow-left armers.
Kent all-rounder Azhar Mahmood has succumbed to injury.
Mahmood was struggling with a dislocated finger in his bowling hand during the Spitfires' Friends Provident Trophy matches with Sussex and Surrey at the weekend, but bravely got through 16 overs in the back-to-back matches.
But the Pakistani all-rounder's name is absent from the 12-man party, as is that of captain Rob Key, who will skipper the England Lions against New Zealand at the Rose Bowl from Thursday.
Martin van Jaarsveld will deputise and compatriot Justin Kemp also comes in for his first championship game of the season.
Neil Dexter is left out but medium-pacer Martin Saggers should come into the XI ahead of off-spinner Charlie Hemphrey, who is yet to make his first-class debut.
