Jason Demetriou has urged his Leyton Orient team-mates to take note of the sides that are heading into the League One play-offs as he expects it to be them next season.
The Brisbane Road club eased their relegation worries with a fine second half of the season, although their upturn in fortunes came too late to put them in with a shout of making the top six.
But Demetriou believes that with manager Geraint Williams putting an end to the uncertainty over his future by signing a new contract, the club can now start to aim higher.
"Football is the best thing in the world but when you come to the end of a season and you've not got a trophy it's not nice," the 21-year-old told PA Sport.
"When you see them boys who have been promoted or who are going to try and get their medals to get promoted it's a totally different place to be. I've already spoken to the boys about it, told them to take notice and I've told them we can push for that next year.
"We picked up some good form this season and the manager helped with that. If we can do that throughout a season we can compete very well."
