Fri 06 Jun, 05:15 PM

Northampton Town have secured the signing of midfielder Liam Davis on a two-year contract from Championship side Coventry City. The 21-year-old former Fulham and Coventry youngster arrives from the Ricoh Arena after making 21 senior appearances, including seven whilst on loan with Peterborough in 2006.

"Liam has a lot of potential," said boss Stuart Gray. "He is a left-sided player with good pace and a lot of skill. He has a good engine and is a natural athlete. I am sure we can help get the best out of him and he is a player with the hunger and desire to do well.

"He can play on the wing or at full-back and gives us options down the left hand side, very much like Daniel Jones did last season.

"We have always said that our recruitment this summer will be a mix of young players with potential and experienced players. Liam will be a good addition to the squad and our work to strengthen further is still ongoing."
