Coleman: No repeat of last season

Fri 06 Jun, 05:15 PM

Manager Chris Coleman has promised Coventry fans that the club will not be involved in a relegation dogfight again next season. The Sky Blues narrowly avoided the drop last term following a 4-1 defeat at Charlton on the final day of the campaign.

Coleman's side survived by a point as midlands rivals Leicester failed to beat Stoke and slipped out of the Championship instead.

"We finished at the wrong end of the league last season. We know that isn't good enough and if I can promise the fans one thing it's that the same thing won't happen again," Coleman told the club's official website.

"I always thought last season would go right down to the wire, and that proved to be the case. The Charlton game was a massive disappointment but we stayed up and we are now looking forward.

"The supporters were fantastic during an undoubtedly frustrating time for them, and we are working hard to ensure we give them a far more successful season next time."

  1. People can sometimes talk such tosh, If Mifsud had have been one of the best we wouldn't have been in the position we were i.e 21st, He scored 10 in the league, against Phillips (West brom) and Beattie's (Sheff United) 22. Stern John's 19 and even Lisbie of bottom of the league Colchester's 17. There were at least 15 other Championship players that scored more goals in the league last year than Mifsud. What an asset he is!!!! Does Coventry really need a player that will only turn it on if the game is big enough???
