Joint-chairman denies Town dispute

Fri 06 Jun, 03:15 PM

Bradford City's joint-chairman Mark Lawn has insisted there is no animosity between the club and Halifax Town.Lawn spoke out after criticism of the club after it was revealed City director Glenn Ackroyd had agreed to pay one third of the price of a season ticket to anyone living in the Calderdale area of Yorkshire.

The former Blue Square Premier side face liquidation in the next few weeks after a season which saw their debts rise to over £2million.

Lawn told the club website: "We're not trying to pinch Halifax fans - we're just asking if they want to come and support us as a second team.

"I don't think there is any animosity between Halifax and Bradford. Nobody is forcing them to do it so I don't understand the problem.

"To suggest we're trying to turn people away from supporting Halifax is just getting the wrong end of the stick."
