Premier League - Transfer Talk: Pull the other Ron

Eurosport - Fri, 06 Jun 07:57:00 2008

Manchester City will surely return Liam and Noel Gallagher to optimum "mad-fer-it" status if they pull off the coup of the century and sign Ronaldinho from Barcelona.

FOOTBALL Ronaldinho - 0

The Times reports new boss Mark Hughes has over £50million to burn and is ready to fly to Brazil to lure the Brazilian to Madchester. Back on planet earth, Sparky can realistically hope to secure Jo from CSKA Moscow for a club-record £18million sooner rather than later.

The Times also report that Portsmouth are making increasingly seductive moves towards Peter Crouch, who's apparently very good on the deck for big man, while Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb is close to completing a deal with Barcelona.

Liverpool are reportedly on the verge of signing full-back Andrea Dossena from Udinese. The Sun can also reveal Xabi Alonso is exiting stage left from Anfield to join Juventus.

Speaking of those lovable Sawf-West London tikes at Chelsea, it's being claimed that both Steve Sidwell and Shaun Wright-Phillips are refusing to sign new contracts until a new gaffa arrives at Stamford Bridge - presumably both are hoping the new manager uses substitutes more liberally.

Meanwhile Zolton Gera's suitors now include not just every relegation candidate in the Premier League, but also Portuguese "giants" Benfica.

As for Cardiff's Aaron Ramsey, who's been lusted after with more vigour than Ana Ivanovic this week, the Daily Star are suggesting Liverpool are offering a player swap for his services. The Reds are apparently willing to sacrifice both Paul "I'll never get in the Liverpool team" Anderson and Adam Hammill. Throw in their tea lady and they might just get him.

Finally, it appears Bolton Wanderers have performed a piece of negotiation with Toulouse more befitting of a Bangkok market than the European transfer one. Johan Elmander has fallen in price from £21million to £6million and may arrive at the Reebok in the near future - who said the credit crunch bypassed the world of football.

  1. Elmander dropping from £21million to £6million? what the heck
does anybody know what happened to him?
Ramsey should go to Manu, cuz manu's offering to have him on loan back to cardiff, a win-win situation, rather than having Liverpool's reserves
Sidwell doesnt belong to a club as big as chelsea, he should go to clubs like Aston Villa for a while
and its unbelievable that ronaldinho would end up at Man City, it just doesnt fit. He mightn't get use to english football anyway

I think Berbatov would have much better sense then moving across the way to Arsenal, I agree that Arsenal do need a striker to partner Adeybayor, but Berbatov is really not an option.

Besides we would never sell him to you ( Sol Campbell made that mistake and he is a hated man on our side of North London ever since ).

  5. what i love abt ma club is that they make no one look bigger than the club, i wonder what has happened to fergie recently?. The lad (Ron)want's to play for Real and he made it very clear!i think i'm personally fed up with Ronn's continued saga, in fact in ma opinion "this may likely cause some real probs in united players Pschycic, should this move make headlines anyway near August.Crying out loud,"let him get the f***K out!I BET HE WILL ROT OUT LIKE BECK, HEINZ, OWEN.....etc.if he's smart enough he should listen to BECKS advice.at leasr with his tranfer fee we will sure of taking out our share of the remaining years he signed for and the summ cd be used to get some 5* plyers....think of QUARRESMA, HUNTAALAR, SANTA CRUZ AND DEVELOPING OUR STARLET NANI.REAL ARE GOOD IN DESTROYING PROMISING PLAYER CAREER, HE WILL MAKE A WONDERFUL INCLUSION TO THAT CATALOGUE.KAKA WAS MATURED ENOUGH TO SNUB THEM!

  11. If Ronaldo goes there are plenty of others who could fill the gap he is only 1 player
there are lots of players undiscovered in this country english clubs should be doing more to aid them rather than rely on foreign players.

  19. Guyz be realistic put yourself in Ronaldo's shoes and honestly tell me that you won't jump ship? Even the entire ED team will jump ship, relocate to and blog for a company owned and based in Argentina if they are offered the kind of pay Madrid is rumoured to be offering Ronaldo. Madrid is not a run of the mill club remember they are the most successful club in EU. Pls be realistics most of you have moved or change allegiance for less compelling reasons.
