Dickov and Huckerby in MLS talks

Sun 06 Jul, 12:15 PM

Paul Dickov and Darren Huckerby are both considering offers to join Major League Soccer side Toronto FC.Veteran striker Dickov is available on a free transfer after leaving Manchester City, while Huckerby was not offered a new contract by Norwich City at the end of last season.

Dickov is also wanted by Blackpool, where he finished last season on loan, but trained with Toronto earlier in the week.

Toronto's director of soccer Mo Johnston was impressed by the 35-year-old's desire to try to secure a contract.

"He's shown an unbelievable willingness to come here and train and he's been great," Johnston said in the National Post.

Former Rangers and Everton striker Johnston also admits that Huckerby is keen to link up with Toronto.

However, Johnston acknowledged that the experienced attacker is concerned about Toronto's BMO Field pitch.

Johnston added: "[Huckerby] had some questions about the turf, obviously with some of the injuries he's had, but he has shown a major interest in coming here."
