Report: Kaboul poised for Pompey

Sun 06 Jul, 07:45 PM

Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul is on the verge of a £6million move to Portsmouth, according to reports in the French media.Juventus, Fiorentina, Hamburg and two more Premier League clubs are believed to be keen on signing Kaboul this summer but the Frenchman is desperate to join Pompey and now looks set to get his wish.

Kaboul got off to a good start at Tottenham following an £8.2million move from Auxerre last summer but a series of poor performances saw him lose his place and he made just two league starts in 2008.

Juande Ramos wants to move him on from White Hart Lane before the new season but is aware he will have to accept considerably less than what Spurs paid just over 12 months ago.

Harry Redknapp is willing to pay £6million, though, according to Footmercato, and that should see Kaboul pen a four-year deal at Fratton Park this week.

A source 'close to the player' told The News of Pompey's interest: "He is not interested in joining anyone else and has made that clear to Tottenham.

"He wants to play for Harry. He is the one who has made the greatest effort to sign him. 'Something is very, very close to happening."

  1. Caution you oiks , you all know deep down he,s gonna comme back in a blue shirt and play a blinder for Harry , Kaboul was blooded far too soon for tottenham , he was clearly not ready for the Prem , but that did ,nt mean he bacame a bad player , from a bad start he just played on his nerves wouldn,t most players in that situation . Kaboul can be a class act , yes he cost too much , but hey look at some of the stupid prices floating around for confirmed rubbish right now ! Kaboul is a great case for going out on loan to a decent side and getting his confidence back where they can afford the points ! And Bentley ? well it won,t work , first the crowd won,t have it and second , he,s been built up into something special that he isnt ? he,s not consistent and we have to have that in players . Come on Levy , get out that fat wallet and buy Sam Et,oo . then maybe you will get the buyer you obviously crave for the club when we finish top 4 on merit .
