Double: Maimoona and La Sarrazine.

William Haggas is in the middle of a purple patch at present where every runner he sends out warrants close consideration, and that is certainly the case with Maimoona in the Commercial First Mortgages Handicap at Ripon.

The race has cut up quite badly from the entry stage and for the money on offer, it might not take quite as much winning as had looked likely.

Haggas, who struck twice at Royal Ascot with Aqlaam and Collection, has continued his terrific run and had another four winners last week.

This Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned three-year-old is very lightly-raced, having had only four starts.

By stallion of the moment Pivotal, the filly finished second on both her outings last season and had no trouble in opening her account first time out this term at Folkestone.

It was off to Great Leighs next where she ran into an improving sort from the Michael Jarvis stable in Befortyfour and there was no disgrace in finishing fourth in a tight little race.

Back up to six furlongs and 2lb lower in the handicap, she can return to winning ways.

It might be worth chancing James Fanshawe's Red Lily in the Work Interiors Handicap in an attempt to foil Precision Break's five-timer.

The filly is in receipt of nearly a stone from the top-weight, who has admittedly improved out of all recognition.

Paul Cole's charge only has a 6lb penalty for a seven-length win but his last race looked weak.

On the other hand, Red Lily suffered a troubled passage last time out and still ran on gamely, suggesting this step up to 12 furlongs should be in her favour.

Fanshawe can bring up a double with La Sarrazine in the Kirkgate Maiden Stakes.

She has gradually improved in her three runs and as she now qualifies for handicaps, it is significant her handler believes she can win a maiden.

At Musselburgh, Linda Perratt's Forrest Star should be able to break her duck in the IME Cost Effective Property Median Auction Maiden Stakes.

Just caught close home last time in a handicap, for which she was put up 3lb, she has a pleasingly progressive profile.

This looks a very weak race on paper and unless either of the newcomers is above average it is hers for the taking.

Richard Hannon's Like For Like has been unfortunate in that she has bumped into a couple of decent juveniles but the EBF Median Auction Maiden Stakes at Brighton can surely bring about a change of fortune.

Never out of the frame in four starts, she now qualifies for nurseries but Hannon believes she is capable of winning at this level and that is a good enough reason to persevere with her one last time.
