Peterlin will be the Toffees' first summer signing, after impressing on a 10-day trial last season, when he was able to attend the FA Cup victory over Middlesbrough.

The FA Cup finalists returned to training with Peterlin declaring: "I am not sure how often miracles happen, but I will not squander this opportunity."

Moving from Ventura County Fusion for a nominal fee, he is expected to complete the details of a one-year contract.

Fusion play in the fourth tier of US football - the Premier Development League - but Moyes declared: "Anton really impressed myself and the coaching staff with his attitude and undoubted ability."

Peterlin added: "The trial period I was there was great. To play alongside some great names like Phil Neville, Tim Cahill and Tim Howard was an experience. Their poise on the ball was terrific and they demand the highest level out of your play every time out."

  1. Rubbish signing, Moyes sort it out and spend some money please, we have money as we finished 5th, got to the final of the FA Cup and we are in Europe. I don't want to hear this rubbish that when Arteta, Yakubu and Jagielka are back it is like signing new players, this is rubbish. We need a right back, left back and centre back urgently ........ we need a quality midfielder and also a striker (30 million) if we sell Lescott (20 million) and use 10 million from Sky surely we will be ok. We need experienced players with International experience to help the kids develop ......... Come on Moyes we are being left behind .........

  3. Anton Peterlin is a young player I have not heard of previously but good luck to him. Sometimes miracles happen and a young guy is found that has exceptional talents. He may well not blossom immediately but I hope that, with David Moyes' guidance and the help of the Everton players he will become an Everton great. In the meantime I hope that we will be able to acquire a midfield general of sound ability and bolster our right back position well before the last week of the break. We also need someone like Berg but it would appear that he may well be outside Everton's spending ability. It may well be that David Moyes believes that we have good scoring potential from within our existing ranks but I con sider this could be a gamble.

  4. Yes 4th tier, it goes from MLS to USL 1 & 2 down to PDL. There are other leagues than MLS and in fact the USL can be better to watch as the teams are usually more attack minded and the games are more open. A few USL teams just knocked out MLS teams in the open cup. I for one hope this guy can find a way into the first team and I am able to see how he plays. That will give me another countryman on Everton to cheer for as I already cheer for Tim Howard who lives in my city when not in England.

  6. just so you know dan, its a miracle because this kid, who is completely unknown and was playing in the fourth division in the USA, is about to sign a contract for an EPL team playing european football. It reminds me of the movie goal. Hopefully for all my fellow toffees we have another santiago munez coming to Goodison. Long Live Moyes, the Ginger Prince.

  7. There is always someone who cannot just either make a clean comment or no comment. They have to be either sarcastic or critical. But they rarely actually mention who they support. I wonder why - From RR Angola
