Premier League - Terry to stay at Chelsea 'forever'

New Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has said John Terry will not be sold for any price and will remain as Chelsea captain "forever".

The talismanic defender has reportedly been the subject of two failed bids from Manchester City, with a third of around £40 million believed to be in the pipeline.

But Ancelotti, giving his first press conference as Chelsea boss, dismissed the speculation and insisted Terry will lead his team out next season, and many more to follow.

Speaking in English, Ancelotti said: "John Terry is a symbol of this team.

"He will be captain next season. He said he wants to stay forever and we want to keep him for ever."

He added: "Now there is a question of Manchester City, but for Terry (there is) no price.

"Terry will be at Chelsea forever.

"He said he wants to stay, there is no problem for him for us, the story continues - Chelsea and Terry.

"I like to have a captain like Terry, he is very close to (Milan and Italy legend Paolo) Maldini for professionalism, for quality and he will be the best captain for Chelsea.

"I spoke with Terry a month ago when I came to the club and he said welcome. And after he went on holiday.

"I will speak with him because he is the captain and I want a good relationship with the captain."

When asked if the club would offer Terry a new, improved contract, he added: "It's not my problem."

  1. NO but im better than average thanks. But frankly being­ happier in life is more about a pay packet and thats­ how it goes. Some people are happier with the more­ money they earn but you can guarantee that there are­ holes elsewhere that are fat regrets. Quality of life.­ I think these footballers are all young men who have no­ idea about the real world. The more money you make the­ happier you will be. thats their philosophy. But­ they'll have their rude awakening at some point. I­ guess it just takes time, unless of course youre born­ with brains.
